Course Overview
The SI system is the internationally recognized decimal system of weights and measures. Developed in 1960 by the General Conference of Weights & Measures, it is the modernized version of the metric systems. Many countries have converted from the imperial systems )e.g., (lb, ft, gallon) to the metric system through a process known as metrification. Only the US, Myanmar, and Liberia have not metrificated. Currently, SI is the standard of measurement used by Pharmaceutical research & development, compounding and dispensing, drug product manufacturing industry and official compendia (USP-NF, BP, EP, etc.). In the use, the imperial and modern systems are used exchangeable in weighing and measuring materials of commerce. As a Pharmacist in the US, you will need to be familiar with the systems and thier interconversions.
